Signature: "John Oliver Hobbes/Pearl Mary-Teresa Craigie",3¼x2¼. Pearl Mary Teresa Craigie (1867-1906) was an American novelist and
dramatist, best known under her pen name John Oliver Hobbes. Though born in
Boston, Massachusetts, Craigie moved across the sea to London when
she was still a young girl. She was educated in Paris and London, and published
her first book Some Emotions and a Moral in 1891. Her work in
writing also extended to writing plays, with the successful The
Ambassador being produced in 1898. She spent the later years of her life
in London, before suddenly dying of heart failure in 1906. Toned. Fine
