Two very rare handwritten, autograph manuscript pages from Buck's short story The Rainbow
Autograph manuscript unsigned. 2 pages, 8½x11, ruled paper. Titled on first page: "The Rainbow". This is from a short story entitled The Rainbow. They include edits and corrections in her hand. Manuscript pages from Nobel Prize-winning authors, like Buck, are uncommon, or at least hard to find on the market. Buck (1892-1973) was the first American woman to win the Nobel Prize in Literature (1938).Best known for her novels about China (including The Good Earth; 1932 Pulitzer Prize for Fiction), Buck wrote over 70 novels as well as biographies, an autobiography (My Several Worlds, 1954), dramas, children's literature and translations from the Chinese. Lightly toned and creased. Seven binder holes on left, some of which are torn. Otherwise in fine condition.
