Perkasie, Pennsylvania, 1953 February 26. To teacher Doris Busby, Henderson High
School, Henderson, Texas whose students conducted a history project, of which this letter is a
response. In full: "Thank you very much for your letter of February the 17th. You asked me a
large question when you asked what America means to me. I once wrote a book entitled exactly
that - WHAT AMERICA MEANS TO ME. Perhaps it is in your library." Pearl Buck's novels
include The Good Earth (1932 Pulitzer Prize for Fiction), A House Divided, Fighting Angel
and The Patriot. She was awarded the 1938 Nobel Prize in Literature. Glue stains on verso
with show through at margins and blank areas. Overall, fine condition.
