The two sisters who appeared in many films, silent and sound, signed this black and white photograph that features the two girls in addition to Will Rogers, on an unidentified film set in 1923!
Photograph Signed: "Peggy Ahern" and "Lassie/Lou/Ahern" in blue felt tip. 8x10¼. Actual size of image 7¼x9¼ with a white border (one surface). The two girls are pictured in similar outfits sitting next to fellow actor Will Rogers. All three appeared in several Hal Roach productions. Peggy Ahern (1917-2012) and Lassie Lou Ahern (1920-2018) both made their film debuts in the same film, Hal Roach's The Call of the Wild (1923). Peggy's last appearance in a screen production was in 1927's Olympic Games, whereas Lassie Lou continued to act well into her later years, experiencing two resurgences decades after her career as a child actress ended. For most of the 1930s, the two sisters toured the country performing on stage as singers and dancers. In the 1940s, Lassie Lou appeared in a few small roles, most notably as a young woman in Gaslight (1944).Thirty years later, she made a few appearances as Lassie Ahern in television shows such as The Odd Couple and Petrocelli. Lassie Lou Ahern is one of the last surviving silent film actors in the world. Fine condition.
