PEGGY LEE
An AFTRA contract for Lee's appearance on The Perry Como Show for the
sum of $10,000
Contract multi-signed (6 times): "Peggy Lee" or "P.L.", 8½x11.
10 pages. October 6, 1960. Standard AFTRA contract with Roncom Productions, Inc.
for Lee's appearance on the Perry Como television show, January 20, 1961. Signed
on p1. Also initialed "P.L." on each page of rider. Lee agrees to
appear as a guest star and to attend rehearsals for $10,000.00 net. The rider is
a standard addition for "star and featured performers." Peggy Lee
(1920-2002), the singer whose smoky, insinuating voice in such songs as
"Is That All There Is" and "Fever" made her a jazz and pop legend, was also
instrumental in the success of the 1955 Disney cartoon feature Lady and
the Tramp. She not only provided several of the character voices
(including the Siamese Cats and dog pound vamp, Peg), she also wrote many of the
film's songs. Lee's biggest hit was "Manana (Is Soon Enough for Me)", a
number one hit in 1948. Her vocal flexibility and cool, breathy voice brought
sultry distinction to big band showstoppers, pop ballads and soulful laments.
Paper clip impression on top margin. Staples in top left corner and left margin.
Lightly toned. Edges worn and creased. Corners worn and creased. Both rider
attached on front creased, esp. bottom one. Soiled. Otherwise, fine
condition. This image has been censored to conceal sensitive information
displayed in the image. The actual document does not have these concealing
