played small roles in some prestige films, like Greta Garbo's
Ninotchka (1939), but starred in low budget films: The Mummy's
Hand (1940), Treat 'Em Rough (with Eddy Albert and William Frawley,
1942) and King of the Cowboys (with Roy Rogers and Smiley Burnett
(1943). She had only a 5-year screen career, retiring soon after her marriage to
director Henry Koster.
Actress MARY ELLEN KAY (b. 1929) acted primarily
through the 1950's and 1960's, appearing a long list of Westerns, including
Streets of Ghost Town (1950), Silver City Bonanza (1951), and
Border Saddlemates (1952). Kay also had a recurring role on the
1950's series The George Burns and Gracie Allen Show as Joan
Jansen. She retired from acting in 1966, making her last acting appearance in an
episode of This is the Life. Kay's signature slightly scuffed, but
clearly legible. Fine condition.
