4x2½ rider stapled to verso. April 10, 1947. Addressed to Miss Penelope
Ward c/o MCA Artists, Ltd., New York City. Wardsigned this document to
certify that she had agreed to appear in a one-hour radio adaptation of the play
Escape on April 27, 1947. She was to receive $500 for this
performance. Ward (1914-1982) was an English actress whose mother, Freda
Dudley Ward, was the longtime mistress of the Prince of Wales (later King Edward
VIII). Her film appearances, mostly during World War II, included The
Citadel, Major Barbara and The Way Ahead. Staple holes at top
left corner. Creases (not near signature). Light tears at bottom edges. Rider is
folded once and unfolded. Otherwise in fine condition.
