PERCIVAL CHRISTOPHER WREN
Author of Beau Geste and other adventure novels
Typed Letter signed: "P. Wren", 1p, 4¾x7. Affixed to cardstock of same size. Pigeon House Meadow, Beaconsfield (England), 1935 June 6. To "Dear Mr. Davis", in full: "I enclose my autograph with pleasure and am honoured by your request for it. With all good wishes, Yours most sincerely". Percival Christopher (Percy) Wren (1875-1941), a descendent of the famous 17th century architect, taught school in England and India, becoming a Captain in the Poona Volunteer Rifles during his years in India (1903-1917). He claimed to have served 5 years in the French Foreign Legion, though such service has not been verified. He returned to England to write adventure fiction, his best known (and twice filmed) novel being Beau Geste (1924), a tale of the French Foreign Legion. Lightly foxed. Unevenly toned. Slightly rippled from mounting adhesive. Otherwise, fine condition.
