PETE ROSE The Cincinnati Reds Hall of Famer signed this newspaper photograph taken from a copy of The Cincinnati Post. Also included are newspaper clippings from the edition. Newspaper Photograph signed: "Pete Rose". Color, 13¾x22¾ overall, image 9x14 (one surface). Signed on the cover of a 12-page special section of The Cincinnati Post published on September 12, 1985. Headed: "The Hit/Pete Rose/4192". In addition to the special section, which is devoted to Rose's hit, which surpassed Ty Cobb's record for most career hits, three additional sections of the paper, including the front pages, local news section and sports pages, all devoting space to Rose, are present. Pete Rose (b. 1941) ended his career with 4,256 hits, with all-time MLB records in hits, singles, at bats, games played, and outs. He had more than 200 hits in a season ten times. Nicknamed "Charlie Hustle", the 17-time All-Star won three World Series rings and an MVP Award during his 24-year major league career (1963-1986). Rose went on to manage the Cincinnati Reds (1984-1989). Allegations of betting on baseball led to Rose's suspension from baseball in 1989; consequently, his name has never appeared on a Hall of Fame ballot. Many fans support his reinstatement and/or election to the Hall. In 2016, Rose was inducted in the Cincinnati Reds Hall of Fame. Lightly creased. ½-inch tear at upper blank margin and pinhead-size holes at lower margin of cover page. Otherwise, fine condition.
