Trading card for Smith as a member of the Atlanta Braves, signed in blue felt tip
Trading/sports card signed: "Pete Smith", in blue felt tip, 2½x3½. A pitcher with a promising start, Pete Smith (b. 1966)pitched three shutouts in 1988, the first season after his major league debut with the Atlanta Braves. Smith was looking to develop into a powerful pitcher like fellow teammates John Smoltz and Tom Glavine. However, his performance fell the next year, due to a rumored injury that he was hiding from his team and from the media. After several more seasons with the Braves, Smith was traded to the New York Mets, and subsequently passed through the Cincinnati Reds, San Diego Padres, and Baltimore Orioles before retiring in 1998. He had a career win-loss record of 47-71, ERA of 4.55, and 640 strikeouts. Fine condition.
