PETER BOGDANOVICH
Giant (27x41) promotional poster for his 1981 film, They All Laughed, signed by Bogdanovich, who wrote and directed what was billed as "A New York Romance.
Poster signed: "Peter/Bogdanovich". Color, 27x41. They All Laughed, which was written and directed by Bogdanovich (who also appeared in an uncredited role as a disc jockey), starred Ben Gazzara, Audrey Hepburn and John Ritter, who had made his screen debut in another Bogdanovich film, Nickelodeon (1976). Originally a film critic, Peter Bogdanovich (born in 1939) emerged as a promising young director with two critical and commercial successes, The Last Picture Show (1971, for which he was nominated for Academy Awards for Best Director and Best Writing, Screenplay Based on Material from Another Medium and for a Golden Globe for Best Director - Motion Picture) and Paper Moon (1973, for which he was nominated for a Golden Globe for Best Director - Motion Picture). A series of unsuccessful films, accompanied by marital and financial stresses, clouded his reputation later, but Bogdanovich showed he could still make good movies, releasing Saint Jack in 1979 and Mask in 1985. With fewer directorial opportunities, he returned to writing, and Bogdanovich also had some success as a supporting actor, notably in TV's The Sopranos (2000). Lightly creased with folds, not at signature. Lightly soiled at blank margins and at light areas of image. ¼-inch tear at upper blank margin at mid-vertical fold, nicked at lower left blank edge. Overall, fine condition.
