Peter Cushing writes a letter to Søren Fischer for the brochures that were sent and to request Søren Fischer to book a seat for him for a lecture.
Autograph Letter Signed: "Peter", 2p, 5½x3½ card, front and verso. Whitstable, 1973 January 5. On card imprinted with his name at upper margin to Søren Fischer. In full: "Thank you so much, dear Søren, for the two brochures. Most grateful. David Castell(?) has just rung me & I'm meeting him either during the all-night showing on Saturday - or at about 3-15 Sunday afternoon at the theatre. Would you be kind enough to book one seat - (in my name) - for the 'lecture'. A young man - Eamon McAleer - is making a special journey from Ireland to attend - and wanted to be sure of a seat! I'll settle the a/c for this when I see you. Many thanks. May God's blessing be with you always. In all sincerity." Lightly soiled. Staple holes at upper margin. Fine condition. Accompanied by carbon typed letter, unsigned, from Fisher, John Player lecture officer, in reply to Cushing's letter. In part: "I have reserved a seat for your lecture for the young man from Ireland. Needless to say it will be a complimentary ticket. David and I will be at the theatre on Saturday night and we look forward to seeing you then." Lightly creased with folds. Staple holes at upper left corner. Fine condition. In 1973, in addition to giving the lecture mentioned in this letter on January 21, Cushing would star in four horror films, And Now the Screaming Starts!, Legend of the Seven Golden Vampires, Count Dracula and his Vampire Bride and From Beyond the Grave, and appeared on the TV series, Great Mysteries. British stage actor Peter Cushing (1913-1994) also found international success in films, including several portrayals of Baron Frankenstein (beginning with The Curse of Frankenstein in 1957), and as Sherlock Holmes (beginning with The Hound of the Baskervilles in 1959). He also played the banally evil Grand Moff Tarkin in Star Wars (1977). Though best known for his horror films, Cushing was said to be proudest of his classical stage performances. Cushing, who was made an Officer of the British Empire for his contributions to acting in Britain and worldwide, also wrote an autobiography. Two items.
