Autograph Note Signed: "P.D.", 1p, 3½x4½. No place, 1971
April 10. On imprinted memo sheet to "Dear Mr. Slotrick". In
full: "I don't happen to have any photographs but here are the
autographed cards at least." Cards not present. In the year he signed
this card, De Vries published his tenth novel, Into Your Tent I'll
Creep. Novelist and editor Peter De Vries (1910-1993) was editor of
"Poetry" magazine (1938-1944) before joining the staff of "The New
Yorker" at the insistence of James Thurber. On the staff of the magazine
from 1944-1987), De Vries wrote stories and touched up cartoon captions.
Known for his satiric wit, he also published a number of novels between
1940-1986. Lightly creased with mid-horizontal fold, not at signature. Fine
condition.
