PETER FALK
Shown standing on a weird driving contraption in a still from the
1965 film The Great Race
Photograph inscribed and signed: "Robert - My very best/Peter
Falk". B/w, 10x8. Captioned movie still from The Great Race (1965).
Peter Falk (1927-2011) lost an eye at the age of three, resulting in the
odd, squinting gaze which later became his trademark. Best known as the
rumpled television detective Columbo, the character actor has also enjoyed a
successful film career spanning over 40 years. He has won two Emmys for his
television work and earned two Best Supporting Actor Oscar nominations
(Murder Inc., 1961 and Pocketful of Miracles, 1962). In The
Great Race, Falk was featured in a talented ensemble cast engaged in a
comically manic prize race from New York to Paris (westward across Russia.)
Lightly soiled at bottom edge. Ink marks (unknown hand) on verso (no
show-through). Corners lightly creased. Otherwise, fine
condition.
