PETER LORRE
Peter Lorre signs a document contracting with Orsatti & Co., Inc. to represent him.
Typed Document Signed: "Peter Lorre", 1p, 8½x11. West Hollywood, California, 1936 October 5. On letterhead of Orsatti & Co., Inc. to have them represent Peter Lorre. Peter Lorre (1904-1964), became a star in Fritz Lang's 1931 classic talkie crime melodrama, M, in which Lorre portrayed a child murderer. Lorre, who had made his film debut in 1929, would appear in films through 1964 (The Comedy of Terrors, Muscle Beach Party, The Patsy). From 1941-1946, he co-starred with Sydney Greenstreet in ten films, including The Maltese Falcon and Casablanca. He is also well known for playing the ever-polite Japanese detective in eight films of the Mr. Moto series. When that series ended in 1939, Lorre freelanced in villainous roles at several studios, including Columbia, Republic, 20th Century-Fox and Warner Bros. In the early 1960s, he costarred in horror films with Vincent Price and Boris Karloff. Lightly creased with folds. Lightly shaded at upper and right margins. Staple and file holes at upper margin. Ink and pencil notations at bottom margin. Overall, fine condition.
