The TV game show host pens a not to a fan on this 5x7 page
Autograph Note Signed: "To Gerald/Best Always/Peter Marshall", 1p, 5x7. Marshall has drawn a tic-tac-toe game beneath his signature. Ink note (unknown hand) at lower margin: "TV Host of 'Hollywood Squares'/January 27, 1978". Although Peter Marshall (born Ralph Pierre LaCock) is best known for hosting the popular TV game show, Hollywood Squares, for 15 years (1966-1981, some 3,536 airings), he had enjoyed a successful career on the stage and screen for 15 years before becoming a successful game show host. Marshall, who began his show business career in the 1940s as a singer with big bands while still a teenager, was half of the successful comedy duo of Noonan and Marshall in the 1950s. He made his film debut in 1950 and would go on to appear in a number of feature films, including The Return of Jesse James (1950), Ensign Pulver (1964), The Cavern (1965) and Annie (1982), and several made-for-TV movies. Marshall has also made guest appearances in a number of TV series, including Love, American Style (1969, 1973), The Love Boat (1979, 1982), Fantasy Island (1981), Burke's Law (1994), MadTV (1995) and Sabrina, The Teenage Witch (1997). He has also appeared in a number of stage productions, including London productions of Bye Bye Birdie and HMS Pinafore (with the London Symphony Orchestra) and, since 2000, continues to sing with big bands and record. The younger brother of actress Joanne Dru, Marshall is the father of former major league baseball player Pete LaCock. Irregular left edge. Fine condition.
