Irish-born actor Peter O'Toole (1932-2013) debuted on the English stage
(1955). He burst into film stardom as Lawrence of Arabia, for
which he received the first of seven Oscar nominations (1962). The other
nominations were for Becket (1964),The Lion In Winter (1968),
Goodbye, Mr. Chips (1969), The Ruling Class (1972),The Stunt
Man (1980) and My Favorite Year (1982). When informed that he was
to receive a special Oscar for his film contributions at the 2003 Academy
Awards, he agreed to accept it only after being assured that it didn't signal
his retirement and that other actors (Henry Fonda and Paul Newman) had gone on
to win regular Oscars after receiving a special award. Corners creased and
rounded. Slightly toned. Ink notes on verso in unknown hand. Otherwise, fine
condition.
