PAUL STOOKEY
Black and white publicity photo of Stookey leaning with his head on his hand, signed "in thanks, in Him" in blue ink.
Photograph signed: "in thanks, in Him/Paul/Stookey". B/w, 9¾x8 overall, image 8¾x5¾ (one surface). Publicity photograph from Rogers & Cowan, Inc., Public Relations and Fritz/Turner Management. Captioned: "Paul Stookey". Paul Stookey, born in 1937, is an American musician. He's probably best known as Paul from the folk group Peter, Paul and Mary. His best known song is probably The Wedding Song (There is Love), performed at the wedding of band mate Peter Yarrow and released on Stookey's first solo album, Paul and..., in 1971. A frequently covered song in the 1970s, Stookey created a charity organization called The Public Domain Foundation, which distributes the royalties from The Wedding Song to charities. His music after Peter, Paul and Mary was strongly Christian, and he was important in the "Jesus music" genre of the 1960s and 1970s, which has since become the contemporary Christian music industry. He still tours with Peter, Paul and Mary. Lightly creased. Small tear at top edge. Ink stains in signature. Otherwise, fine condition.
