PEYTON PLACE TV CAST: RYAN O'NEAL and CHRIS CONNELLY
Shown as brothers in the ABC-TV series
Photograph inscribed and signed: "Greetings to/Peggy/Gentry/from/Ryan", "Chris/Connelly". B/w, 8x10. Peyton Place, a steamy 1954 novel by Grace Metalious set in a thinly fictionalized New Hampshire town, became a feature film in 1957, and then a popular ABC-TV series (1964-1969). Not yet an established star, Ryan O'Neal was cast in the key role of Rodney Harrington, While Chris Connelly played his younger brother Norman. American actor RYAN O'NEAL (1941-2023) parlayed his popularity on Peyton Place into the male lead of  opposite Ally McGraw in  film adaptation of Erich Seagal's best-seller Love Story (1970). The film was a smash hit and landed O'Neal an Oscar nomination. Some of his other films include What's Up Doc? (1972), Paper Moon (1973, the film netted his co-star and real-life daughter, Tatum O'Neal, an Oscar), Barry Lyndon (1975), Oliver's Story (1978) and The Main Event (1979). O'Neal, himself in remission from leukemia, supported his longtime companion Farrah Fawcett during her terminal struggle with cancer. He has a recurring role on the popular series Bones, as the loose cannon father of Temperance "Bones" Brennan. CHRIS CONNELLY (1941-1988), still best remembered for his Peyton Place role, starred in the 1974 TV series Paper Moon (playing the starring character Ryan O'Neal played in the movie, with Jodie Foster replacing Tatum O'Neal as his daughter). He many TV guest appearances, and was featured in Italian films, before his early death from cancer. Fine condition.
