PHIL ESPOSITO, CO-SIGNED BY: TONY ESPOSITO
This signed 24x16 promotional poster, from the Tampa Bay Lightning's inaugural 1992-1993 season, proclaims to the world that the team already has two Hall of Famers before playing even its first game: president Phil Esposito, from the Boston Bruins, and chief scout Tony Esposito, from the Chicago Blackhawks. Comes in a 29x20 matte.
Photograph signed "Phil Esposito" and "Tony Esposito". Color, 24½x16 in a 28¼x19¾ black-and-gold matte. Captioned: "This Season Hasn't Started, and Already We Have Two Team Members in the Hall of Fame". This poster is from the 1992-1993 inaugural season of the Tampa Bay Lightning. Brothers and fellow Hall of Famers Phil and Tony had retired from play at this point, but had executive positions on the fledgling team, Phil as president and general manager and Tony as Director of Hockey Operations and chief scout. Both were fired from the team in 1998. PHIL ESPOSITO, the 6'1" and 205 pound center born in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, Canada in 1942, broke into the NHL with the Chicago Blackhawks. Esposito played 4 seasons with the Blackhawks before being traded to Boston in 1967. He became the first player in NHL history to reach the "Century Mark" when he scored 49 goals and added 77 helpers for 126 points during the 1968-69 season. As a Bruin, Esposito led the NHL in goal scoring four times, including his unfathomable 76 goals in 78 games during the 1970-71 campaign. The following two years he followed up with 66 and 55 goals, leading the league with both totals. Esposito also helped lead the Bruins to two Stanley Cup championships before being traded to the Rangers in 1975. Esposito, while past his prime with the Rangers, was still an effective goal scorer and physical presence. He was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1984. TONY ESPOSITO, born Antony James Esposito in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, Canada in 1943 is the brother of Hockey Hall of Famer Phil Esposito as well as a Hall of Fame goaltender, from the Class of 1988, in his own right. Esposito started playing for Michigan Tech in the NCAA in 1964 and made his National Hockey League debut with the Montreal Canadienes during the 1968-1969 season. He left for the Chicago Blackhawks in the 1969-1970 season, where he stayed until retiring in 1984. Esposito is a Stanley Cup winner and won the Calder Cup in 1970 as best NHL rookie and the Vezina Trophy three times as best NHL goalkeeper. He's also been NHL First All-Star Team Goalie three times and Second All-Star Team Goalie twice. He has a win-loss record of 423-306 in the NHL with a career goals against average of 2.92; Esposito allowed an average of just 1.77 goals per game in 1971-1972. Matted by unknown individual. Lightly creased, otherwise in fine condition.
