THE TRADE OF MAY 15, 1967: PHIL ESPOSITO, KEN HODGE, FRED STANFIELD, PIT MARTIN, JACK NORRIS, GILES MAROTTE
Large signed and numbered 20x15¾ of Phil Esposito, Ken Hodge, Fred Stanfield, Pit Martin, Jack Norris and Giles Marotte in their old and new uniforms before the Bruins/Black Hawks trade of May 15, 1967
Photograph signed "Fred Stanfield", "Ken/Hodge", "Phil/Esposito", "Pit Martin", "Jack/Norris" and "Gilles Marotte", all in blue ink.Color, 20x15¾. Captioned: "The Trade/May 15, 1967", with the players' name in between the two lines. Numbered 34 of 300 in lower right corner in unknown hand. ©Sports World/Sports Action. On May 15, 1967, Phil Esposito, Fred Stanfield and Ken Hodge were traded to the Boston Bruins by the Chicago Black Hawks for Pit Martin, Jack Norris and Giles Marotte. This composite photo shows the players in their old uniforms (in b/w) and their new uniforms (in color). It was one of the largest trades in Bruins history and also a big shuffling of talent within the NHL, with future All-Star Hodge and future Hall of Famer Esposito heading to Boston and future All-Stars Martin and Marotte heading for Chicago. It was also an ill-advised trade on Chicago's part, as they gave players that turned into the core of the Bruins' dominating 1970s roster, which won two Stanley Cups. The Black Hawks weren't as lucky; in fact, they haven't won a Stanley Cup since 1961 and have only advanced to the finals twice (1970-71 and 1991-92) since the trade. Lightly creased and bowed. Upper right corner is lightly worn. Otherwise in fine condition.
