PHIL REGAN
Black and white photo of "The Singing Cop" turned film and radio star, Inscribed in person to collector Saul Goodman
Photograph inscribed and signed: "To Saul//Sincerely/Phil Regan". B/w, 8x10. Collector's ink stamp on verso dates signature: June 26, 1935. Regan (1906-1996) was a New York City police detective whose outstanding voice earned him a place in film. He starred in Republic Pictures musicals of the 1930s and later hosted The Phil Regan Armed Forces Show on radio (1951). He also supported fellow actor Ronald Reagan in his successful 1966 campaign against Edmund "Pat" Brown. In 1972, he was sentenced to two years in jail for attempting to bribe Santa Barbara, California officials on behalf of a developer. Saul Goodman (1919-2003), a New York business man by day, pursued his love of film and theatre in the evening, making friends with many celebrities. While other autograph seekers offered album leaves, Goodman presented stars with snazzy photographs, a rarity then, to sign in fountain pen. Corners worn and creased. Otherwise, fine condition.
