Yankees Rizzuto, Lopat and McDougald sign a picture of themselves
celebrating a 13-1 World Series game victory over the rival Giants.
Photograph inscribed and signed: "To Frank:/Best Wishes/Ed Lopat",
Hall of Famer "Phil Rizzuto" and "Gil McDougald". B/w,
8x6½, by ACME News pictures. Captioned, in part: "10/9-Polo rounds, N.Y.;
Happy Yanks (L-R): PHIL RIZZUTO, who hit 2-run homer in 4th inning;
pitcher ED LOPAT, who pitched his 2nd current World Series win, a
5-hitter; and rookie GIL McDOUGALD who slammed the 3rd grand-slam home
run ever hit in World Series play in the 3rd inning. Yanks won, 13-1." The
Yankees beat the Giants in six games. The 1951 season may be remembered for the
Giants, who won the National League playoff in a dramatic 3-game playoff against
Brooklyn (Bobby Thomson's "shot heard round the world"), but the Yankees had the
final word: winning their third of five consecutive World Championships.
Lightly creased. Overall, fine condition.
