PHIL RIZZUTO
He signs a 14x11 photo of himself stealing second in the 1955 World Series.
Photograph signed: "Well Done -/'Scooter'". B/w, 14x11. Shown stealing second base under the tag of Dodger Jim Gilliam in Game Six of the 1955 World Series as umpire Frank Dascoli looks on. Phil "Scooter" Rizzuto (1916-2007) was an All-Star shortstop five times, and he was named the American League MVP in 1950, when he peaked with a .324 average and 200 hits. Rizzuto played on nine pennant winners and seven World Champions over his 13-year career. He was one of the most skillful bunters of all time. A long-time Yankee broadcaster known for his exclamation, "Holy cow!" Rizzuto saw his uniform #10 retired by the club in 1985. He entered the Hall of Fame in 1994. Rizzuto got four hits and scored two runs in the 1955 World Series, but the Dodgers won Game Seven, winning their first and only World Series in Brooklyn. One-fourth-inch tear near right corner of upper edge. Small authenticating label in lower right corner. Otherwise, fine condition.
