A photograph of the actor signed with "All best wishes", framed to an overall size of 13¼x22
Photograph signed: "All Best Wishes/Phil Silvers". B/w with tan hue, 6¾x8¾. Depicted in his best known role as Sergeant Ernie Bilko from The Phil Silvers Show, originally titled You'll Never Get Rich (1955-1959), for which he won five Emmy Awards. The television show was a springboard for many comedy greats, including writer Neil Simon. Former vaudeville and burlesque performer Phil Silvers (1911-1985) starred in film comedies from the early 1940s, but his biggest successes came on TV and the stage. His Broadway hits include Yokel Boy (1939), High Button Shoes (1947), Top Banana (1950, for which he won a Tony Award), Do Re Mi (1960) and a revival of A Funny Thing Happened On the Way To the Forum (1971, for which Silvers won his second Tony). Minor surface scratches at lower background. Lightly creased at lower left blank corner. Staple holes at corners. Fine condition. Framed in the Gallery of History style: 13¼x22.
