November "6". Signed statement certifying that his salary from all
sources in calendar year 1941 was $"15,715.30" and that his salary to
date in 1942 has been $"19,196.35." (Italicized details written in
signer's hand). Former vaudeville and burlesque performer Silvers
(1911-1985) starred in film comedies from the early 1940s, but his big
successes came on TV and on stage. Television viewers will remember him best as
Sergeant Bilko, winner of five Emmys in the sitcom You'll Never Get
Rich (1955-1959). His Broadway successes include Yokel Boy
(1939), High Button Shoes (1947), Top Banana (1950, which won
him a Tony), Do Re Mi (1960), and a revival of A Funny Thing
Happened On the Way To the Forum (1971, and his second Tony). Creased.
Smudged in upper right; nail head sized stain in lower left. Date stamp (unknown
agency) in upper right. Binder holes at top. Small nick at left
edge.
