PHILIP ALGER - AUTOGRAPH NOTE SIGNED - HFSID 17637

 
PHILIP L. ALGER
Short note written by electrical engineer Philip L. Alger in blue ink on an index card
Autograph note signed "Philip L. Alger/This replies to your letter of August 12 - good luck!" in blue ink. Pencil notations on verso in unknown hand. 5x3 card. American engineer Alger (c. 1894-1979) took part in the early development of electric motors at General Electric. A member of General Electric from 1919 to 1958. He develop methods for predicting the performance of electric motors, which led to smaller and cheaper motors that could be put to a wide variety of uses. Alger also taught electrical engineering at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, New York (1958-1970) and wrote several books, including Mathematics for Science and Engineering (1957), The Nature of Induction Machines (1965) and The Human Side of Engineering (1972). Lightly toned. Show-through from notations touches signature. Otherwise in fine condition.
