PHILIP BOOTH
The poet has drawn himself as a tiny face in the cosmos to illustrate
his claim, "My place in the universe is small ... but I exist, not without
joy".
Autograph Quotation on Self-Caricature signed: "Philip Booth",
6x9. He has drawn his tiny face, a planet and a much larger sun, and
written in full: "My place in the Sun,/in the Universe,/on Earth/is
small;/but I exist. Not without joy". The first book published by Philip
Booth (1925-2007), Letters from a Distant Land, was the Lamont Poetry
Selection in 1956. Booth's very accessible poems describe the people and
landscapes of New England, using the latter as metaphors for his states of
mind. His tenth and final poetry collection was Lifelines: Selected Poems
1950-1999. Creased from folds. Fine condition.
