PHILIP BURNE-JONES
Handwritten, signed letter from the artist to his publisher, asking that his book Dollars and Democracy be forwarded to several addresses when it is published in New York
Autograph letter signed: "Philip Burne-Jones", in black ink, 3 pages (integral leaf), 4½x7. January 22, 1904. London, England. In part: "Dear Sir, Would you kindly have a copy of my book "Dollars + Democracy" forwarded to the following addresses, with my compliments, as soon as it is published in New York?". The first child of the British Pre-Raphaelite artist Sir Edward Burne-Jones, Philip Burne-Jones (1861-1926) was also an artist, painting a variety of portraits, landscapes, and scenes. Initially only taking up painting to avoid attending higher education, Burne-Jones did eventually take painting as a serious venture. Two of his works stand out in particular - his portrait of his father, which now hangs in the National Portrait Gallery, and his painting "The Vampire", which remains his most recognized work due to it's relation with the Rudyard Kipling poem of the same name. Tape on right margin of front page. Slight surface creases. Stray ink marks across front. Adhesive residue on verso. Corners slightly worn and creased. Mailing fold in center. Otherwise, fine condition.
