He signs a typescript, the first three paragraphs of Portnoy's Complaint
Typescript Signed: "Philip Roth", 1 page, 8½x11. American author Philip Roth (1933-2018) won the National Book Award in 1960 for Goodbye Columbus. His American Pastoral (1997) won the Pulitzer Prize. In 2006, the New York Times Book Review asked over 200 writers and literary critics to name the most important novel of the last 25 years. Twenty-two books were named, of which six were by Roth. His many awards include a second National Book Award (for Sabbath Theatre, 1995), the PEN awards, and the inaugural Franz Kafka Prize (2001). Recent Roth novels are The Plot Against America (2004), an alternate history in which Charles Lindbergh defeats FDR for President in 1940; and Everyman (2006). Roth, who delights in mixing fact and fiction and creating ambiguity about which is which, has claimed that Operation Shylock is a true story, but that the Mossad told him to call it a work of fiction. Slightly creased. Fine condition.
