This stock certificate certifies the purchase of 1000 shares of preferred stock by
the entertainer. It was cancelled on October 15, 1956. Phillips H. Lord
(1902-1975) was an American entertainer who is best known as the radio
broadcaster of Gang Busters (1935-1957). Initially titled G-Men, the radio
show dramatized closed FBI criminal cases and was the inspiration for the
phrase “came on like Gang Busters”, referring to the program's introduction
sequence which included loud noises like a police officer's whistle and gunfire.
Gang Busters later became a recurring televised series in the 1940s and 1950s.
Lord also appeared on the big screen himself in Way Back Home (1931) and
Obeah (1935). His other radio work includes Mr. District Attorney
(1939-1952), which was also turned into a television series. Tape stain along
