PHOEBE CATES
Black and white publicity photograph of Phoebe Cates in a scene from Private School.
Photograph signed: "Phoebe/Cates". B/w, 10x8 overall, image 9x6 (one surface). Shown with Kathleen Wilhoite, Betsy Russell and Kari Lizer (not signing) in publicity photo for Private School. © 1983 Unity Pictures Corp. Phoebe Cates, (born in 1963) the goddaughter of acting great Joan Crawford, the daughter of producer Joseph Cates, the niece of director Gilbert Cates and the wife of actor Kevin Kline, went into modeling after an injury thwarted her desire for a career in dance. She debuted in films in 1982, making Paradise and giving a dynamic performance in Amy Heckerling's coming of age film, Fast Times at Ridgemont High. The following year, Cates made Private School, recording two songs ("Just One Touch" and "How Do I Let You Know") for the soundtrack. Her other feature films include Gremlins (1984), Bright Lights, Big City (1988), Princess Caraboo (1994, co-starring her husband) and Anniversary Party (2001), and Cates has also enjoyed a successful stage career. Signature in poor contrast but legible. Otherwise, fine condition.
