Inscribed photograph signed "To Carolyn/Best wishes/Phylicia
Rashad". Black ink notations on verso. B/w, 7¾x9¾. Most people know
Rashad, born Phylicia Allen in 1948, as Clair Huxtable, Bill Cosby's
wife, from the long-running sitcom The Cosby Show (1984-1992). But
Rashad is also a talented Broadway actor. She appeared in the original Broadway
productions of The Wiz (1975-1979), Dreamgirls (1981-1985) and
Into the Woods (1987-1989), as well as Cymbeline (2007-2008) and
as Lena Younger in A Raisin in the Sun (2004), which earned her
a Tony Award. She also earned a Tony nod for her performance as Aunt
Ester in Gem of the Ocean (2004-2005). Rashad has over 40 TV and
movie roles to her credit, including recurring roles on the TV series One
Life to Live (1983-1984) and A Different World (1989-1990), an
Emmy nomination for her reprisal of Lena Younger in the 2008 TV adaptation of
A Raisin in the Sun. Lightly creased, otherwise in fine
condition.
