Inscribed Photograph signed "For David/with warm/regard/Phyllis Kirk". B/w 8x10. Kirk (1929-2006, born
Phyllis Kirkegaard in Plainfield, New Jersey), a Hollywood leading lady of the
1950s, is best known for her Emmy Award-nominated role as Nora Charles on the
NBC television series The Thin Man (1957-1959). A former model, she
was a contract player for both MGM and Warner Bros., appearing in films from
1950 (Our Very Own) to 1957 (The Sad Sack), most notably in the
Vincent Price thriller House of Wax (1953). Kirk found her
greatest success on television, however, beginning with appearances on
early TV anthologies to guest starring roles on a number of series. Also an
interviewer, writer and social activist, she made her last appearance on the TV
series The F. B. I. in 1970 before retiring that year. Lightly toned,
creased and bowed. Minor ink smear in "For" and "Regard" (legible). Corners
lightly worn. Minor surface creases not seen head on. Otherwise, Fine
condition.
