3½x1. Clipped from the closing of a letter. Pierre Bernard d'Hery
(1755-1833), a French lawyer and scholar, was elected to the National
Assembly in the early phase of the French Revolution (1791), where he
advocated moderate reforms. Denounced as a Royalist during the Terror (1792), he
survived to become a prefectural administrator under Napoleon. He later wrote
several books, including histories of Malta and of modern Greece. Toned and
lightly creased. Irregularly cut edges. Otherwise, fine
condition.
