The French military officer signed this slip of paper with notes, both handwritten and
typed
Autograph Letter Signed: (translated) “Friend of France/ very sincerely/ P Billotte”. 9½x5¼
sheet of paper with numerous clippings adhered to it. Dated January 25, 1955. One page.
Pierre Billotte (1906-1992) was born into a military family; his father was General
Gaston Billotte. Gaston was a major French military officer during WWII. Pierre also
fought in WWII as a Captain. Despite his valiant efforts in the retaking of Stonne, the Battle
of France was lost and he was taken prisoner. From 1955 to 1956, he was the Minister of
National Defence under Prime Minister Edgar Faure. Irregular cut. Clippings from a typed
letter adhered to the page. Holes punched in larger sheet. Lightly toned. Notes in unknown
hand on larger sheet. Otherwise, fine condition.
