Inscribed original art signed: "A Monsieur Warner E. Colville/
Cami" in black ink, 6½x4. Depicts caricature Cami drew of himself. French
humorist Pierre Henri Cami (1884-1958) was one of France's most
prolific and acclaimed comic authors of the first half of the twentieth
century; he was named by comedian Charlie Chaplin as "the greatest
humorist in the world". After founding the Le Petit Corbillard Illustre in
1910, Cami published over forty minidramas and comic noviels such as The
Memoirs of God-the-Father, The Adventures of
Loufock-Holmes, The Son of the Three Musketeers and most
memorably the sagas of his most popular creation, Monsieur Rikki and the Rikki
family. Lightly toned. Small stains. Otherwise, fine
condition.
