Laurie was also seen on the big screen in Son of Ali Baba and No Room for the Groom. Actress Piper Laurie (born Rosetta Jacobs in 1932) played light, youthful roles in films of the 1950s, emerging later as a powerful dramatic actress. She received a nomination for the Best Actress Academy Award for The Hustler (1961) and was nominated for the Best Supporting Actress Oscar for Carrie (1976; also nominated for a Golden Globe) and Children of a Lesser God (1986). Laurie's acclaimed TV performances include the Playhouse 90 version of Days of Wine and Roses (1958), the miniseries, The Thorn Birds (1983; Golden Globe nomination), and Twin Peaks (1990). She received an Emmy Award for her performance in the made-for-TV movie, Promise (1986). Laurie was married to writer Joe Morgenstern from 1962 until their divorce in 1981. Lightly creased and shaded at blank corners and margins. Minor surface striations (not evident head on). Fine condition.
