The musician who went on to perform on Nashville Star signed this index card in black
ink
Autograph Note Signed: “To Joe!/ Thanks!/ Pat Severs". 5x3 index card. All five of these men
got together in 1987 and formed the Pirates of the Mississippi, a country band that
released its self-titled debut album in 1990. Their first three albums all reached the U.S.
Country Top 100 chart. Charting singles include "Feed Jake" (1991), "Dream You"
(1993), and "Honky Tonk Blues" (1990). Rich Alves (b. 1953) played the guitar and
provided background vocals, Bill McCorvey (b. 1959) played guitar and sang lead vocals,
Jimmy Lowe (b. 1955) played the drums, Pat Severs (b. 1952) strummed the steel guitar and
occasionally a Dobro, and Dean Townson (1959-2010) provided the bass guitar. Severs left
the band and joined the band on Nashville Star (2003-2008) in 2003. Lightly toned.
