Captioned: "PLÁCIDO DOMINGO". Spanish-born Mexican tenor and actor Domingo, born in 1941 in Madrid, Spain, made his debut in 1961 in Mexico as Alfredo in La Traviata. Domingo, who has sung some 119 different roles - more than any other tenor in the annals of music - has sung in every important opera house in the world. He has also made well over 100 recordings, 97 of which are full-length operas and often recording the same role more than once. Domingo has earned nine Grammy Awards and two Grammys in the newly established Latin Division. A Kennedy Center Honoree in 2000, he is also known for his tours with José Carreras and Luciano Pavarotti, billed as "The Three Tenors". Not framed or matted in Gallery of History style.
