PLENTY PLAY CAST: KATE NELLIGAN and EDWARD HERRMANN
Both have signed on the Playbill cover, which bears their likenesses
Show Bill signed: "Kate/Nelligan", "Edward/Herrmann" both in blue felt tip, 83p, 5½x8½. Playbill for a production of Plenty at New York's Plymouth Theatre, signed on the front cover. Plenty, a play by David Hare, ran for 92 performances (January 6 to March 27, 1983), with Nelligan and Herrmann in the starring roles. Canadian actress KATE NELLIGAN (b. 1951) began her professional acting career on London stages before moving to Broadway and film, receiving an Olivier Award nomination as Best Actress in a New Play for Plenty (1979). In New York, she won a BAFTA Award as Best Supporting Actress for Frankie and Johnny (1991). She was nominated for four Tony Awards between 1938 and 1989 (for Plenty, A Moon for the Misbegotten, Serious Money and Spoils of War, for an Emmy (Road to Avonlea, 1989) and an Oscar (Prince of Tides. 1991). In Eye of the Needle (1981) Nelligan played a lonely woman on a British island battling a man she discovers is a Nazi spy (Don Sutherland). Frequently cast as a blue blood and/or intellectual (The Paper Chase, 1973; The Emperor's Club, 2002), EDWARD HERRMANN (1943-2014) also hosted and narrated several historical documentaries for the History Channel and the Arts and Entertainment Network. Cast as Franklin Roosevelt in both a TV movie (Eleanor and Franklin, 1976-1977) and a stage musical (Annie, 1982), Herrmann showed his versatility by learning to throw and hit left-handed for the TV movie A Love Affair: The Eleanor and Lou Gehrig Story (1977). His many TV appearances have included a regular role on The Gilmore Girls (2000-2007) and a recurring role on The Good Wife from 2010 to 2013. Lightly toned at edges. Otherwise, fine condition.
