GERALD A. REGAN. Picture Post Card signed: "Gerald A. Regan" on verso. Color, 5½x3½. Front depicts the "Shield of the Arms/of the Province of/Nova Scotia". Captioned at upper left margin on verso. 10-cent Canadian stamp afixed, not postmarked. Gerald A. Regan, a labor lawyer, rose through provincial and federal Canadian legislature to become Premier of Nova Scotia (1970-1978). Although voted out of office after two terms, he was elected to Canada's Parliament and became Minister of State for International Trade in the Cabinet of Prime Minister Pierre Trudeau (1980-1984). In 1995, Regan was indicted for rape and a long series of sexual offenses against dozens of women, alleged to have been committed while he held high office. Regan was alleged to have groped and otherwise assaulted women as young as 14, ranging from babysitters to job applicants. A jury acquitted Regan in 1998; more charges were filed in 1999, but after several rounds of litigation the charges were dropped in 2002. Regan's son was a Cabinet Minister in the Liberal Government of 2003-2006. One of his daughters is an actress, the other a well-known Canadian TV personality. Slightly creased. Stray ink marks to right of signature. Minor impressions (not evident head on) on front. Fine condition.
