WILLIAM DAVIS. Picture Postcard signed: "William Davis" on
verso. Color, 5½x3½. Front depicts the "Shield of the Arms/of the Province
of/Ontario". Imprinted caption at upper left margin of verso. 10-cent Canadian
stamp affixed, not postmarked. William G. "Bill" Davis entered the Ontario
legislature in 1959, becoming the Province's Education Minister in 1962. A
Progressive Conservative, William Grenville Davis (born in 1929) was Premier
of Ontario from 1971-1985. He was Canada's Special Envoy on Acid Rain
(1985-1986), producing a joint report with his American counterpart. A lawyer by
profession, Davis has served on the boards of numerous corporations since
leaving public office. Staple holes at lower right corner. Fine
condition.
