BENJAMIN HARRISON. TLS: "Benj Harrison", 1p, 8¼x5½. Indianapolis, Indiana, 1887 November 14. On his "Harrison, Miller & Elam" law office stationery to Samuel A. Christie, Esq., Waltham, Mass. In full: "Your letter of November 4th. has been received. I have no leisure time to prepare such a paper as you suggest." Three months later, Harrison announced his candidacy for the 1888 Republican presidential nomination. Having lost his bid for reelection to the Senate just a year earlier, Harrison said: "I am a dead statesman, but I am a living and a rejuvenated Republican." Harrison rode his "Rejuvenated Republicanism" campaign right into the White House. Lightly creased. Light vertical fold touches the "j" in Benj. Fine condition.
