Photograph inscribed and signed: "To Henry L. Fernbach/With Regards/Calvin Coolidge". Sepia, 8x10. Photograph by Walinger, Chicago. Newsreels of presidential candidates were first seen in theaters in 1924. Lee de Forest and Theodore W. Case took motion pictures of President Coolidge on August 11, 1924. In September, moviegoers saw Coolidge on the grounds of the White House, Democrat John W. Davis campaigning in Locust Valley, N.Y. and Progressive Robert LaFollette on the Capitol steps. Coolidge was the first New Englander to be elected as President since Franklin Pierce. Creased at blank background and border (1, barely discernable head-on, touches his ear), none affect writing or signature.
