In full: "I have been in the western part of the state so little for a number of years that I have never had the opportunity of seeing you up there since the day you were in office. I understand that you come to Boston sometimes and hope whenever you are here you will not fail to call on me at the State House during the day or at the Adams House in the evening. Please give my regards to Mrs. Hemenway." RUFUS HEMENWAY was a lifelong friend of Coolidge. They first met at as classmates at Black River Academy, Rutland, Vermont. Governor Coolidge and his wife Grace lived in a modest 2-room flat in the old Adams House, near Boston Common (sometimes confused with Adams House, the Harvard University residence facility).
