Two days after his election as Harding's Vice President, Governor Coolidge signs a typed letter thanking a Bostonian for his kind wishes.
Typed Letter Signed: "Calvin Coolidge" as Governor of Massachusetts and Vice President-elect, 1 page, 7½x10½. State House, Boston, 1920 November 4. To George P. Gale, Boston. On his personal embossed gubernatorial stationery. In full: "It was exceedingly thoughtful of you to send me such a gracious message. I want to thank you for your kind wishes which I assure you I reciprocate." Two days earlier, on November 2, 1920, the Republican ticket of Warren G. Harding for President and Coolidge for Vice President defeated Democrats James M. Cox and Franklin D. Roosevelt by 16.2 million to 9.1 million popular votes, 404-127 electoral votes and 37-11 states. Harding and Coolidge were sworn in on March 4, 1921. Horizontal fold touches the top of the "C"s. Fine condition.
