TLS: "Ch. Weizmann", 1 page, 8x10. New York, 1942 July 10. On
pictorial stationery of the Hotel St. Regis to Morris Eisenman, New York City.
In full: "Your prompt response to my telegram is a great encouragement
to me in my work here. I note what you say about the conversation you propose to
have with yourself. I should like to join you in that conversation and perhaps
as a result something fruitful may emerge. At any rate, the first free moment I
have, I shall communicate with you so that we might get together for a little
while." At the time of this letter, Chaim Weizmann, President of the
Jewish Agency for Palestine, was in the U.S. to get support for the creation of
an independent Jewish state in Palestine. He was Provisional President of
Israel (1948-1949) and the first President of Israel from 1949 until
his death in 1952. Lightly creased with folds, not at signature. Some light
yellow shading, not at signature. 4 nicks at right edge, 2 at left. Minor stains
at blank lower edge.
