CHARLES de GAULLE (1890-1970) was Chairman of the National Committee of
the Free French in London (1941-1943) and in Algiers (1943-1944). He was
Chairman of the Provisional Government of France from 1944-1946. He was
President of France from January 8, 1959 to April 28, 1969. ANDRÉ
FIGUERAS (1923-2002) became a noted historian and journalist. Lightly
