Richards, Chief, Budget Division, War Department Special Staff, The Pentagon, Washington, D.C. Pencil note (unknown hand) in upper right corner. In full: "It was a pleasure to read the splendid commendation which the Secretary of War has given to you and the Budget Division. I agree heartily with the views he has expressed. For my own part, I am well aware of the ability and diligence you have devoted to the important and difficult tasks which have come your way. Your outstanding services have been of the highest order of importance to all War Department activities. I am forwarding a copy of this letter along with that of the Secretary of War for inclusion in your official records. You have my warm good wishes for your continued success. Sincerely". Ike resigned from the Army in June 1952, the month before he was nominated for President. Fine condition.
